BLACK BAMBU

\ From kitchen recipe to product world

Death Wish
Sauces

An unnamed kitchen sauce became a loud, collectible product system built to move from first taste to first order.

\ The ignition

Florida ingredients. A locally famous recipe. No name, no packaging system, and no visual language strong enough to own the shelf.

Give the heat a name. Then make it impossible to miss.

The name came out of the product experience: flaming-hot mango sauce, cold beer, and the feeling that flavor this loud should carry a little danger.

The strategic constraint was just as clear. Avoid the usual skull-and-flames shortcut. Build a world that could be intense, playful, official, and flexible across new flavors.

\ The mark

One loud rooster. No quiet shelf moments.

A rooster brought noise, attitude, and an ownable silhouette. The linework stayed simple enough to behave like a tattoo, seal, or stamp while flames and the black circular field carried the product into a more official system.

\ Product architecture

Three containers. One recognizable family.

Each product forced a different physical decision. The system had to survive sauce, cold storage, compact circular formats, and flavor extensions without losing the rooster seal or the heat signature.

\ The impression

The identity kept working after the handoff.

“Our business cards you made are making a great impression on customers.”

Death Wish Sauces / Client feedback

“Black Bambu exceeded our branding expectations and solved a printing problem we had been struggling with.”

\ Commerce

Shop with the eyes first.

The launch system moved from a vector-led coming-soon page into a Big Cartel shop. Mockups and live product photography kept the product front and center while the owner retained a manageable commerce backend.

\ Launch signal

Molten Mango started receiving orders within its first two days on sale.

The client's live Our Story page records the first-batch launch and the immediate move toward Burnin' Bird and Ragin' Reaper. The remaining questions are scale, repeat purchase, retail reach, and what the founders learned after launch.
